Fascial and Membrane Technique Courses
Fascial and Membrane Technique: Interacting Cavities -- Thorax, Abdomen and Pelvis (FMTT)
Course Length: 4 Days
24 CE's
Synopsis: FMT on one hand is based on the basic osteopathic theme of mobilization that is as precise and as gentle as possible, and on the other hand, ties in with the form-stabilizing approach of Ida Rolf's Structural Integration. The modality was developed by Peter Schwind, Ph.D., Rolfer of Germany.
Course Highlights:
- Fascial and Membrane Technique works directly with the bridges between the envelopes that surround the visceral system, the envelopes that surround the craniosacral system and the envelopes that surround the musculoskeletal system.
- Other courses have taught how to work with each of these 3 systems. In this course of study you will learn to influence all these systems simultaneously through these connecting bridges. In this first course you will leave with new evaluation techniques, as well as treatment applications that you have not seen before.
- These skills will increase the effectiveness of the work you are doing with clients, at the same time decrease the stress and demand on your body and hands while treating clients.
Prerequisite: Experience with Visceral Manipulation or CranioSacral Therapy is required.
Required Advance Reading: Fascial and Membrane Technique by Peter Schwind.
Fascial and Membrane Technique: Extremities (FMTE)
Course Length: 4 Days
24 CE's
Synopsis: Expanding on the knowledge from FMT1, FMT2 turns its attention to the bridging, interconnecting function of fasciae and membranes between the trunk and the extremities.
Course Highlights:
- The relationships between the cavities of the trunk and the limbs that will be explored.
- Evaluation of the inner dynamics of the extremities will be addressed as well as the deep layers, such as the intermuscular septi and the interosseous membranes.
- For treatment of the upper extremities, techniques for such conditions as frozen shoulder, epicondylitis and carpal tunnel syndrome will be discussed, demonstrated and practiced. For the lower extremities, lecture, demonstration and practice for dysfunctions of the hip joint, knee and ankle will be covered as well as consequences of casts and similar devices.
Prerequisite: : FMT1 (Interacting Cavities -- Thorax, Abdomen and Pelvis)
Required Advance Reading: Fascial and Membrane Technique by Peter Schwind.
Fascial and Membrane Technique: Cranium, Jaw and Cervical Region (FMTC)
Course Length: 4 Days
24 CE's
Synopsis: FMTC focuses on the relationship between the container construction of the cranium/cervical region and the intracranial system. This relationship is also examined for its connections to the cavities of thorax, abdomen and pelvis.
Course Highlights:
- Special attention will be given to the inner bridge of the neurocranium and viscerocranium.
- Anatomical relationships, evaluation and treatment for the following areas will be discussed: hypertonic and hypotonic structures around the TMJ; motion restriction and instability within the cervical spine; and specific applications for whiplash.
- The cranio-mandibular region will be analyzed in relation to global movement restrictions, and treatment strategies presented for hyper-mobile joints.
Prerequisite: Fascial and Membrane Technique: Extremities (FMTE) or Fascial and Membrane Technique: Interacting Cavities - Thorax, Abdomen and Pelvis (FMTT)
Required Advance Reading: Fascial and Membrane Technique by Peter Schwind.
